Japan Society, New York

It was very shocking to find out that the book Roy ordered a few month ago is actually a catalog for Japan Society’s upcoming exhibition. We are great admirers of the work of Keisuke Serizawa, and its frustrating that we can’t see enough of it in the states. Fortunately, a museum dedicated to his work is in the same town as where I am from, so Roy and I experienced many of his works when we were in Sendai. (But not all.)
It’s starting soon!

Boo!

Halloween is just around the corner… well, not exactly, but I’m working on it already. Normally around this time of the year, I’m allabout costumes and parties to go to, but this year, Isabel and I will be catering a party for 300 people. We get to design all types of spooky finger foods and we’re very excited about this opportunity.
There’s also a lot of pressure to manage the production, and presentation. Lately I have noticed my dreams are all food related. Some of my new ideas are from my dreams….
This ghost sushi could be one of them. I made a chicken roll with pesto rice, and a vegetable roll with furikake rice. Then quail egg ghost sit on top of them. Sample making is a daily job now, so I’m sure whatever spooky things Roy sees in his bento, he won’t be surprised….

Pace Wildenstein is showing Maya Lin’s large- scale installations, Three Ways of Looking at the Earth at their 22nd Street location. Roy seemed so busy taking pictures of vertical wooden two-by-fours pieces, the main piece ,”2 x 4 Landscape. it has 50,000 pieces. I wanted to stay in the center of Water Line, a floating wire-frame drawing. We enjoyed the show a lot!
